There is no accompanying consent form.

In giving consent for your child to attend, you understand that during the weekend there will be:

  • Walking, sports, physical contact games and activities in and around the Lodge.
  • Young people sleeping in dormitories/rooms with members of the same sex and that bedding is not provided so parents must supply their own.
  • No transport is provided and therefore parents are responsible for dropping off and collecting within the time parameters given.
  • Photographs taken during activities over the weekend which may be used in the advertising of the group. Parents must advise the Youth Team should you not want your child to be included in the photographs.
  • Supervision and care provided by the approved Youth Team Leaders. However, while the staff will take all reasonable care of the children, they cannot necessarily be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury suffered by a young person during or because of the activity.

Whenever medical advice or treatment is needed, the assistance of a GP or A&E Department of a hospital will be sought.  The Children Act 1989 allows a doctor to provide any necessary treatment by doing 'what is reasonable in all the circumstances of the case for the purpose of safeguarding or promoting the child's welfare'. However, the parent/carer will be contacted and advised of the situation as soon as possible.  It is important, however that as we are caring for the young people that we obtain in advance, the following information detailed below from the parent/carer.

Young people will be able to hold and manage their own medications. Where this is not possible Riverside Church will ensure that medicines are stored safely and securely. The Youth team will only accept prescribed medicines that are in date, labelled, in their original containers and include instructions for administration, dosage and storage. The Youth team will only agree to administer or supervise medication where they feel they have been given appropriate training or information from the parent. Young people should know where their medicines are held and be able to access them immediately and which leader is responsible for them. Devices such as asthma inhalers and adrenaline pens should always be readily available to the user and not locked away. If your child has access to an EpiPen then at least two should be provided for the trip. Young people should not bring non-prescribed medication for self-administration.
